Derbyshire County Council has written to Hazelwood Parish Council regarding an application under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 concerning Public Bridleway No. 24.
The application, submitted by the Trail Riders Fellowship, asks Derbyshire County Council to investigate whether:
- Bridleway No. 24 should be upgraded to a Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT); and
- the route should be extended to connect with Over Lane.
Important: No decision has been made
The letter received by the Parish Council is not a notice that the route is being changed.
Derbyshire County Council is currently gathering information and comments as part of its investigation into the application. No decision has yet been made on whether the application should succeed.
What is being considered?
The County Council’s role is to examine historical and documentary evidence to determine whether public rights exist over the route. The consultation is part of that evidence-gathering process.
