Just Six Weeks to Go Until the Duffield & Hazelwood Scarecrow Trail!
Keith Walker, Chairman of Hazelwood Parish Council, is encouraging local residents to start planning their entries for the Duffield & Hazelwood Scarecrow Trail 2026, which takes place from 16th to 20th September 2026.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the much-loved community event, and organisers are hoping it will be the biggest and best trail yet.
The theme for 2026 is “When I Grow Up”, offering endless opportunities for imagination and creativity. Children and young people are particularly encouraged to get involved by creating a scarecrow depicting a job, ambition, hero or dream they would like to become. Whether it’s a firefighter, astronaut, teacher, vet, artist, sportsperson or entertainer, every interpretation is welcome.
Both Hazelwood Parish Council and the Baby & Toddler Group will be entering scarecrows, and we hope parishioners will encourage their young family members to join in and take part. The trail is a wonderful way of bringing the community together while showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of local people of all ages.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy refreshments and homemade cakes provided by the Baby & Toddler Group during the event weekend, making it an ideal opportunity to spend time with family and friends while supporting a valued local community organisation.
The Scarecrow Trail has become one of the highlights of the local calendar and relies on the continued support of residents, businesses and community groups. Whether you enter a scarecrow, walk the trail, or simply stop for a slice of cake and a chat, your support helps make the event a success.
